Beluga hearing extends well into the ultrasonic range. In one rehabilitated wild Cook Inlet beluga, auditory-evoked-potential testing found responses across 4–128 kHz and thresholds below 80 dB re 1 µPa over 16–80 kHz. Its results resembled measurements from healthy wild belugas in Bristol Bay.[1] These measurements demonstrate capability, not an identical audiogram for every animal: hearing changes with individual condition, age, and measurement method.
